The Sustainability Learning Community offers new ways for academic and general staff to collaborate with students on campus projects.
If you are a lecturer and need ideas for course projects, consider this:
- The campus offers an ideal laboratory for students to test out classroom theory.
- Campus projects require no travel and fit easily into your course schedule.
- The concepts of sustainability can be applied to any discipline - students enrolled in courses from Science to Arts to Business have all completed campus sustainability projects for assessment.
- Involvement in campus projects offers a form of experiential learning that truly engages students in a hands-on learning process.
Projects examples include:
- Sustainability reporting and business plans
- Marketing green office or residential programs
- Cost - benefit analysis of sustainability policies
- Energy or water conservation planning, analysis and implementation
- Green design
- Applied environmental management
- Ecological footprint studies
- Carbon emissions and mitigation studies
