Information for Staff

ANU

The Sustainability Learning Community offers new ways for academic and general staff to collaborate with students on campus projects.

If you are a lecturer and need ideas for course projects, consider this:

  • The campus offers an ideal laboratory for students to test out classroom theory.
  • Campus projects require no travel and fit easily into your course schedule.
  • The concepts of sustainability can be applied to any discipline - students enrolled in courses from Science to Arts to Business have all completed campus sustainability projects for assessment.
  • Involvement in campus projects offers a form of experiential learning that truly engages students in a hands-on learning process.

Projects examples include:

  • Sustainability reporting and business plans
  • Marketing green office or residential programs
  • Cost - benefit analysis of sustainability policies
  • Energy or water conservation planning, analysis and implementation
  • Green design
  • Applied environmental management
  • Ecological footprint studies
  • Carbon emissions and mitigation studies
